Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness Diploma of Fitness Trainer and Assessor Like many of our staff, Dean began his career as a professional athlete - playing for the Atlanta Braves in the MLB and the Perth Heat in the ABL. Post career, Dean took on various roles within Australian baseball such as the Australian Women’s Bronze Medal Coach in 2014 and Committee Chairman from 2014 to 2016. Dean was hired by Diamond in 2017 and went on to purchase the business with Blair. Since then, they have worked together to transform the facility into a hub for athletes to come and achieve their potential. |
BLAIR WARDFOUNDER & DIRECTORQualifications
Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness Trainer and Assessor ASCA L1 Blair began at Diamond Fitness back in 2014 and is one of the inaugural staff members. Blair’s passion is helping others. Currently, he runs the disability support training and delivers Certificates in Fitness to classes at Christ Church Grammar School. In 2020, the opportunity arose to purchase Diamond Fitness with Dean. Together, they transformed Diamond into a business that is thriving in both the athlete and education space. Now, Diamond services some of the best athletes in WA and delivers Certificates in Fitness to hundreds of students from a wide range of schools across WA. |
corban wroeHead of performanceQualifications
Bachelor of Health Science Master of Exercise Science ASCA L2 Corban's background is deeply rooted in basketball, going from an AIS scholarship to the University of Hartford on a D1 Basketball scholarship. After finishing college in 2015, he returned to Australia to play for the Wildcats. He finished his professional career in 2018 and now plays for the Warwick Senators in the NBL1 West. Having played basketball at the collegiate and professional level, Corban has been involved in the high-performance sports setting for over a decade. In 2018, he was hired by Diamond. His wealth of knowledge in professional Basketball and S&C is now applied to help Diamond athletes reach their potential. |
John ogilviestrength & conditioning CoachQualifications
Bachelor of Science, Exercise and Health ASCA L2 Trainer and Assessor Johnny started at Diamond back in 2015. He has previous intern experience at WAIS, East Perth Football Club and the Western Force. If you are an S&C coach you’ve probably seen Johnny presenting at ASCA conferences, helping to up-skill his peers. At Diamond, he works closely with our swimmers and baseballers, helping them to achieve their sporting goals. More recently, Johnny has been involved with our education program, working closely with Dean and Leigh out at the Ball Park. |
Leigh GodfreyHEAD of educationQualification
Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness Trainer and Assessor Leigh’s journey began with Softball. She was on a WAIS scholarship before moving to an AIS scholarship. In 2009, she received a Softball scholarship to Radford University in the USA. In 2013, she went to the Netherlands to play in the Dutch Professional League. She has represented Australia since 2009, most recently playing in the 2020 Olympics. In late 2020, Leigh joined Diamond as a coach. Now she works heavily within our education space. Leigh no longer plays Softball but now looks to develop the next generation, coaching the WA High-Performance Softball Program. |
Josh Kennellystrength & conditioning CoachQualifications
Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness Diploma of Sport Josh began representing the WA in baseball before going on to represent Australia in the U18s. He then signed and played for Cincinnati Reds from 2012-2014 before returning home to play for Perth Heat until 2016. He joined Diamond in 2016 and quickly became a favourite on the gym floor. He works closely with our general pop clients to help them achieve their goals. Josh currently works out of HQ and Ball Park. |
